The American Gelbvieh
Association (AGA) elected new directors and officers
during its 2006 National Convention and Annual Meeting
in Denver, Colo. With the theme of “Talkin’ Gelbvieh”,
AGA members from across the nation gathered for
committee members and election of new directors.
Elected to lead the
American Gelbvieh Association Board of Directors as
President for 2006 was Dr. Jay Johnson of Happy, Texas.
Johnson and his family own and operate Johnson Cattle
Company. Johnson is an assistant professor of Animal
Science at Texas Tech University.
Stuart Jarvis of
Phillipsburg, Kan., was selected as AGA Vice President.
Jarvis owns and operates Bar Arrow Cattle Company with
his wife, Donna.
Re-elected to their
second three-year terms were Sam Castleberry and Skyler
Martin. Castleberry was elected as the new AGA
Secretary. Castleberry, of Castroville, Texas, operates
an embryo transfer service in addition to his purebred
operation, South Texas Gelbvieh. Skyler Martin of
Oregon, Ill., was selected as the AGA Treasurer. Martin
owns Blackhawk Cattle Company and works with his wife’s
family operation, Nordman Feedlots.
The AGA Board of
Directors makes the policies and sets the direction of
the American Gelbvieh Association with input from the
membership through a well-developed committee system.
The American Gelbvieh Association represents 1,500
