The seedstock herd was started in
1982 when Stuart returned from college to his home in NW
Kansas near Phillipsburg.
The Gelbvieh breed was chosen due to the impressive
results in comparison to other breeds studied at the
Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center,
Nebraska.
From 1982 to 2003, Bar Arrow Cattle Company
joined Lynn Ferguson of Spring Valley Farms and Tony Imm
of Deer Creek Ranch to offer 150 Gelbvieh, Balancer® and
Angus bulls. This group was known as Gold Genetic
Breeders.
In 1991, Gold Genetic Breeders
started a production sale which consisted of 70 Gelbvieh
bulls and 70 Gelbvieh females.
Since the Spring of 2004, Bar Arrow Cattle Company
and Spring Valley Farms
continue to offer 120 bulls split equally between
purebred Gelbvieh, purebred Angus and Balancer®
hybrid bulls. They sell bulls together at theQuality Beef Genetics Sale.
